Robert Tryon
Dr. Tryon has over 30 years of experience in mechanical and structural design and research along with the development of computer-based modeling and prognostic software used in the aerospace, marine and manufacturing industries. He is also the inventor of VPS-MICRO which is the microstructurally-based, probabilistic material simulation and modeling tool for metals. Dr. Tryon has served as principal investigator on over 10 Federal government research projects over the past 12 years. Dr. Tryon is expert in the use of physics-based probabilistic analysis methodology in structural design of common engineering materials such as aluminum, titanium and nickel-based alloys. His consulting expertise has been used within the aerospace, marine, automotive, manufacturing and medical device industries. Before co-founding VEXTEC, Dr. Tryon had over 20 years of experience with Original Equipment Manufacturers. At Allison Gas Turbine, he was responsible for structural analysis and design, and developed analysis methods. At Ford Aerospace, he developed shock and vibration requirements for aerospace applications as well as managed product testing qualification. Dr. Tryon has authored over 50 publications and he is an inventor on 7 patents. He received a BSME and MSME from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a PhD from Vanderbilt University.
