About Heraeus Noblelight America LLC:

Heraeus Noblelight will be showcasing its broadband flash lamp heat source, the humm3®, along with infrared heat technologies for increasing production rates and quality in a wide range of composites processing and fabricating applications. humm3 heat source for AFP/ATL and more humm3 technology is a high power, safe, highly controllable broadband heat source for Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), Automated Tape Laying (ATL), filament winding and other composites applications. Heraeus Noblelight’s humm3® technology delivers homogeneous, highly controllable heat to the process area, over a wide range of temperatures at rapid process rates. It’s instantaneous temperature ramp-up and cool down is ideally suited to processing complex parts using dry fiber and thermoplastic composite materials. humm3 delivers the power previously only available from a laser, but without cumbersome safety protocols and costs associated with a laser safety enclosure. humm3 also offers scalable heated widths from 12.5mm – 300mm and beyond, with wider widths offering the possibility to greatly improve material deposition and thus production rates. The humm3 product line includes discovery, ideally suited to research and development, and the new enterprise which is ideal for integration into industrial production, advanced process development or pilot lines. The humm3 enterprise is designed for large production cells giving you the ability to enable high throughput for composite materials and components such as pressure vessels, pipes and components in automotive, aerospace, oil & gas, and construction industry applications. Integration and control of humm3 enterprise is simple using its fieldbus communications, robot rated components, and “plug and play” head connectivity. Infrared heat technology Our infrared emitters, modules, and systems cure thermosetting plastics and heat thermoplastics prior to welding, molding or forming. Precise control and placement of infrared radiation ensures a more efficient composite fabrication process. Example applications include pre-preg layup, de-bulking pre-preg carbon fiber tape layups, softening of multiply pre-preg material prior to molding, and more. Short wave emitters provide a rapid response and flexible size for any application. Fast response medium wave emitters integrate easily into production. Carbon medium wave provides a more color-neutral response to substrates while maintaining a quick response rate. Systems can be curated for specific customer needs.

CONFERENCE PROGRAMMING

THINK BEYOND THE MOLD

CAMX has the most robust composites and advanced materials education program anywhere in the world. Learn skills, material developments, and processes from more than 100 sessions led by the experts. Gain insights at thorough technical paper presentations and education sessions, and discover best practices from lively panel discussions.

OPENING GENERAL SESSION

Kick off CAMX by attending the General Session, open to all attendees and exhibitors. The CAMX 2022 General Session keynote presenter will be renowned author, teacher, and business leader, Michael Steep.

Over his 30+ year career, Mr. Steep has worked with top executives from Apple, Microsoft, BMW, Google, P&G, L’Oreal, and Airbus to transform technology disruptions in their industries into new business opportunities. He currently serves as the executive director of Stanford Engineering School's Center for Disruptive Technology and Digital Cities, and prior, he served as the SVP of global business operations at innovation mega-hub, PARC Xerox. His presentation, Supply Chain and the Role of Composites and Advanced Materials, will address how to turn current supply chain disruption into new opportunities for the industry.

LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS

CAMX features a unique, three-day learning experience, with over 10 live demos on vacuum infusion, light resin transfer molding, and advanced processes producing real-life part. See, touch, feel, and learn from industry leaders...only at CAMX!

GOOD DAY, CAMX!

The panel discussion titled Take Off with Good Day CAMX and Re:Build Manufacturing will feature panelists: Miles Arnone, Chief Executive Officer of Re:Build Manufacturing; Jay Wakenshaw, Chief Operation Officer of Elroy Air; and Jonathan Sourkes, Head of Sales of Aero SBU, Victrex; with moderator Marcy Offner from Composites One.

The collaborative discussion will highlight real-world partnership success stories using advanced materials like thermoplastics to achieve unexpected benefits in developing market segments. New this year – attendance is open to all CAMX 2022 attendees.
