Robert (Bob) Dahlstrom
Bob is the founder and CEO of Apellix which provides software-driven aerial robotics platforms to paint, coat, clean and test, in situations where humans have done the work at physical risk to themselves. A serial entrepreneur, Bob is passionate creating software-controlled robotic systems that keep people safe and save lives.
State of Technology of Cleaning and Coating UAV Systems
Cleaning, coating, and the nondestructive testing (NDT) of corrosion-susceptible surfaces requires extensive manual labor, often at vertical heights that create a dangerous occupational environment. Drones, also known as unmanned aerial systems (UAS), can be leveraged to perform some of these tasks, including cleaning and coating, while keeping workers safely on the ground. An introduction to the current state of coating and cleaning drones will be discussed, along with limitations and benefits the system can provide to the coatings industry.
ASME’s Robotics for Inspection & Maintenance Summit
As a growing industry, robotics is becoming a primary investment across several industries. Companies spend approximately $40+ billion per year on inspections alone and even more on maintenance. With expenditures this large it is important to make sure that these inspections are thoroughly detecting and effectively predicting corrosion, leaks and defects to signal any impending problems.
ASME’s Robotics for Inspection & Maintenance Summit offers a unique combination of demonstrations, case studies, and expert discussions that will help businesses optimize inspection, maintenance, and repair while improving safety and lowering costs.

About the Event
This unique, 2-day event brings together a combination of asset owners, robotics & UAS inspection service providers, robotic maintenance providers, robotic and UAS OEMs, sensor OEMs, data analytic/software providers, and other key stakeholders across the entire supply chain. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet leading cross-industry experts in inspection and maintenance about robotic solutions and technologies used to increase the safety and efficiency of inspection, repair and maintenance.
Why Attend?
Maintaining aging infrastructure in energy, oil and gas transportation is dangerous, challenging, and costly. Optimizing inspection, maintenance and repair is key to safe, efficient and profitable operations. Advanced robots, control systems, sensors, and end effectors provide intelligence and dexterity for performing tasks remotely or autonomously in complex environments. Robotics paired with artificial intelligence and advanced analytics will take inspection and predictive maintenance to the next level.
Why Attend the Robotics for Inspection & Maintenance Summit?
This unique event will offer an interactive, realistic experience combining insightful presentations and case studies from industry leaders, engaging panel discussions and robotics and digital technologies exhibits, and demonstrations around industrial assets. This event features cutting edge technologies in action on and around demonstration vessels, platforms and structures.
