Martin Marietta Magnesia Specialties' high purity, magnesium hydroxide is used for pH control and alkalinity supplementation in wastewater treatment applications. FloMag® products are non-hazardous, environmentally friendly, safe and cost-effective treatment options versus caustic soda and lime. FloMag® H magnesium hydroxide buffers to a maximum pH of 9 in most wastewater streams, making biomass damaging pH excursions in biological wastewater treatment systems less likely. In addition, FloMag® greatly improves solids settling and dewatering, resulting in reduced sludge volume when compared to caustic soda and lime.
