ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND

Woodmont Country Club located in Rockville, Maryland is seeking a Turf Equipment Technician to join the 36-hole facility, and will report directly to the Equipment Manager.

 

Our equipment shop is currently staffed with two assistant mechanics and is looking for a senior technician to help our organization grow and improve the conditions of our golf courses and other infrastructure. This will be a hands-on position with the opportunity to gain experience in personnel management.

Initial Priorities of Position:

  • Learn and understand practices of daily operations and service standards of our equipment including leased Fairway Mowers, Sprayers, and Rough Mowers. 
  • Training and learning new technology of our John Deere GPS sprayers. 
  • Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work environment, and complies with OSHA guidelines.

Compensation & Benefits:

Preferred Requirements:

  • Certificate, associate's or bachelor's degree in automotive service technology or similar field is preferred
  • 3-5 years of automotive, diesel engine, landscape, turf equipment mechanics preferred

Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects and failures on various pieces of golf course and construction equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and perform daily checks on reel mowers.
  • Repair and adjust cutting units on reel and rotary mowers.
  • Perform checks in the field on mowers and aerification equipment.
  • Manage two Assistant Mechanics in the absence of the Equipment Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Equipment Manager or other management of The Club.
  • Standard work hours - 40-45 hours per week

Experience Requirements:

  • Prior mechanical experience required on gasoline, diesel, and electrically powered equipment.
  • Ability to read and write in the English language.
  • Ability to read and analyze schematics, service manuals, and other documents.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be committed to learning and a continuous process of improvement.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to critically think and make independent decisions based upon sound judgement.
  • Must have a positive attitude and a strong desire to create a positive and fun work environment.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must possess tools adequate for working on a wide variety of equipment.
