The Apawamis Club located in Rye, New York is seeking a driven and passionate individual to join their team as the Equipment and Shop Manager. As the Equipment and Shop Manager you will play a crucial roll in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of our extensive inventory of equipment valued at over $2.5 million dollars.
The golf course took shape in 1899, which was stewarded through design by the then Chairman of the Golf Committee, Maturin Ballou, who astutely enlisted the assistance of a young Scottish professional named Willie Dunn, Jr. Mr. Dunn had traveled to the U.S. to build what is the now fabled links at Shinnecock. Changes have been made to the Apawamis golf course since its original design throughout the years by famed architects Herbert Strong (1906-1911), Donald Ross (1930), George and Tom Fazio (1977), Gil Hanse (2001-2002), Tom Marzolf (2014) and Keith Foster (2017-2022).
Position Overview:
The Equipment Manager at The Apawamis Club will be responsible for daily upkeep, preventative maintenance, and repair of all Grounds Maintenance equipment. This includes but not limited to:
- Jacobsen PGM Green Mowers
- John Deere 220SL Approach and Tee Mowers
- John Deere 9009 and 7400 Rough Mowers
- Honda Push Rotary Mowers
- John Deere Gator and Pro-Gator Utility Vehicles
- Cushman Vicon Spreaders
- CAT Skidsteer and Mini-Excavator
- Chem-Turf Sprayers
- Miscellaneous RedMax, and Stihl Small Equipment
- New Foley 653 Accu-Master and Foley 673 Bedknife grinders
