The selected candidate will have an opportunity to join the #1 rated residential club in the state of Florida during an exciting time in the club's history as they've embarked on a Master Facilities Plan including engaging with Gil Hanse to restore the Seth Raynor design.
The Second Assistant Superintendent reports directly to the Director of Greens & Grounds, along with the Head Greenskeeper.

Initial Priorities:

Compensation & Benefits:
- $18 to $19 per hour with overtime ($48,000-$55,000)

Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 or 4 year degree preferred; willing to work with the right individual.
- Minimum 1 year on a golf course; Intern, AIT or Assistant experience preferred
- Employee must have or be able to obtain a FL pesticide application license within 6 months of hire.
- While performing the essential functions of this job, the Second Assistant Superintendent will frequently be required to lift, move, carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, odors, or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions including, but not limited, to dampness, wetness, or humidity; toxic or caustic substances; electrical current; excessive noise; grease & soil; and moving mechanical parts.
Typical Functions:
- Weekdays - 5:30-3:30 p.m.; Weekends - 5:30-11:30 a.m. on weekends; assistants have off at least one day per week in season (October-April), and do not work on Sundays in off-season months.
- Assists with planning and supervising the maintenance of the property by scheduling work, supervising the employees and the use of the equipment
- Direct reports include all hourly Golf Course Maintenance team members
- Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing, other equipment; performs chemical and fertilizer applications; supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, maintenance of the irrigation system and drainage systems. This includes water management & irrigation setup.
- Assists in personnel management & evaluations, employee safety, personnel discipline, may also modify daily work schedule based on professional interpretation
- Performs routine safety inspections on all equipment
- Be able to read, interpret chemical labels, and is responsible for keeping chemical and fertilizer application reports for the Golf Course Maintenance staff
- Responsible for cleanliness and upkeep of maintenance facility work areas, storage areas & equipment
- Locate and identify weeds or invasive plants, implement appropriate eradication and control measures
- Ensures the safe and proper operation of tools, vehicles and equipment; adheres to prescribed safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Opens and closes, locks and unlocks facilities as needed
- Assists in the development and enforcement of policies, rules and regulations for the golf course
- May supervise various employee committees, as required and assigned
- Performs all other related tasks as deemed necessary by management
